We have been granted the use of Society Of London Theatre & UK Theatre’s ‘See It Safely‘ mark and Visit Britain’s ‘We’re Good To Go’ mark. These marks certify that we are complying with the latest Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, to ensure the safety of our staff and audiences.
We’ve been working really hard to ensure that your next visit to the Queen’s Theatre Barnstaple and The Landmark Ilfracombe is a safe and reassuring experience.
We’ve adhered to all the Government and public health guidance and we’re ready to welcome you to watch a fantastic performance. Here are some of the ways that we’re adapting to make sure your visit is still just as memorable;
- E-tickets with ‘know before you go’ information.
- Pre-show emails that explain any changes or additional measures in place before your visit.
- Socially distanced seating, with at least 1m+ in between each group of tickets.
- Staggered arrival times printed on your tickets.
- You’ll need to wear a mask throughout your visit and during the performance.
- Hand sanitiser at all entrances and exits to the theatre.
- Additional cleaning of our facilities and auditorium before and after every performance.
- Our team will be supplied with their own PPE and will be assigned to a work station throughout their shift.
- Our toilet cubicles, urinals, and sinks will be limited to ensure distancing can take place.
- Tickets are limited to a maximum purchase of 6 per customer.
- Additional bins have been placed throughout the building for you to place your rubbish in.
- We provide information on parking and how to reach the theatre prior to your visit.
- We kindly ask that you keep your belongings to a minimum during your visit.
- Drinks and snacks can be ordered from your seat or prior to your visit by our DIVA app, just search ‘Selladoor’ in your app service.
- You may be temperature checked on arrival and if you register over 37.8 degrees you will be denied entry.
- NHS Track and Trace registration will be mandatory on arrival.
We ask that you do not visit the theatre if;
- you believe you have been infected with COVID-19.
- you have experienced symptoms in the last 14 days.
- you have been in close proximity to anyone who has experienced symptoms in the last 14 days.
- you have arrived in England in the last 14 days and are not covered by the exemption rules relating to self-isolation.
- you have been instructed to self-isolate.
If you consider yourself to be clinically vulnerable, (or belong to the same household or support bubble as someone who is vulnerable) we advise that you do not attend.
If you have booked tickets and cannot attend but your performance is still taking place, we are happy to exchange your tickets to another performance or provide an account credit to use against a future visit.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I get to the theatre?
Be sure to set aside more than enough time for your journey to the venue; if possible, walk or cycle at least part of the way. Please check your route if travelling by public transport as this may have recently changed.
How will my ticket work?
Every ticket must be purchased in advance as an e-ticket or print-at-home ticket. This will allow us to let you enter our venues more easily, minimise the amount of time you may have to queue, and reduce contact with the front of house team. Tickets are available in fixed groups, usually 1, 2, 3 or 4 tickets are seated together and each group is distanced from the other groups.
Will I need a face covering?
Venues will be ensuring that face coverings are worn throughout the duration of your visit including during the performance. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering, we would please ask that you wear an exemption lanyard which can be downloaded here.
What should I bring?
Please keep your belongings to a minimum and with you at all times. This will assist with bag checks, and some venues may not be opening their cloakroom facilities.
Will I be able to buy interval refreshments?
You will be able to pre-order your interval drinks and ice creams to minimise contact with others. We will bring these to your seats. Transactions will be cashless and paperless.

Will I need to have my temperature checked?
Temperature checks may be carried out on arrival – please feel comforted that this is for your safety.
If we assess that your temperature is 37.8C or higher, you and those who were to be part of your fixed group of tickets will not be allowed to enter the venue and the face value of your tickets will be refunded or exchanged.
What are the social distancing rules?
At the moment, all theatres are socially distanced. We have removed every other row of seats and ensure that 2 seats are left between you and the next group of tickets. In line with government guidelines, audiences are separated from other social bubbles.
Whilst the capacity in the auditorium has been greatly reduced, you may need to pass someone to take your seat. Please mitigate any risk by keeping your face covering on at all times. The theatre will also ask you to maintain a safe social distance around the building and when you are queuing to take your seats.
What else are we doing?
To keep you safe, our theatres will be cleaning their venues before every performance and regularly disinfecting. Some routes in the buldings may have changed in order to minimise your contact with others, so our helpful staff at the theatre will guide you. Please use the hand sanitiser stations when you enter and exit the theatre. Following the performance, Stage Door activities such as photographs with the performers or autograph signing will be restricted.
What happens if I feel ill and can’t use my ticket?
We will be ensuring that you have maximum flexibility by allowing tickets to be exchanged up to 24 hours prior to the performance – so if someone in your party feels ill, there’s no need to worry.
Please do not attend the venue if you
- believe you may be infected with COVID-19;
- have experienced symptoms in the last 14 days;
- have been in close proximity to anyone who has experienced symptoms in the last 14 days;
- have arrived in England in the last 14 days and are not covered by the exemption rules relating to self-isolation; or
- have been instructed to self-isolate.
Any individual who considers themselves to be clinically extremely vulnerable or who is in the same household or support bubble as someone who considers themselves to be clinically extremely vulnerable is advised not to attend.
What should I do if I become unwell after my theatre visit?
All venues are working with the government to ‘Track And Trace’. If you display COVID-19 symptoms, you will be required to inform your point of purchase.
