One of the rising stars of the classical music scene, Australian violinist Emily Sun has performed not only with all the major orchestras in her native Australia but also with leading orchestras in the United States, China and Europe.
Now resident in the UK, Emily continues her busy touring schedule while also teaching at the Royal College of Music in London.
This is her second visit to North Devon, having performed the Beethoven concerto with North Devon Sinfonia at the Queen’s theatre to wide acclaim in 2018.
North Devon Sinfonia shot to fame in 2016 when they won BBC Television’s “Great Orchestra Challenge”. The following year they represented the UK at the International Community Orchestra Festival in the South Korean capital, Seoul.
This year, Emily and NDS are performing the fiendishly difficult Tchaikovsky violin concerto, one of the pinnacles of the violin repertoire and a perennial favourite with audience worldwide.
Also on the programme is Rossini’s sparkling overture to “The Barber of Seville” and Dvorak’s sublime Symphony No 7.
