In a village in Northern England, Danny (Edward Andrew), the conductor of a colliery brass band has difficulty maintaining the morale of his musicians when the economic future of the area is threatened by the possibility that the local coal mine will be closed. When a former resident, Gloria (Collette Harrison), returns to assess the mine she gets involved with her former flame, Andy (Jared Brokenshire) and also the band, joining them in their last hurrah at a national competition.

We follow the action through the eyes of Danny’s grandson, Shane (Danny Cashmore) as he narrates the story of not only the band, but also the struggles left over from the miners strikes as seen by the desperate acts of his father, Phil (Jordan Buckingham).

This well loved comedy drama is brought to you by Upclose Theatre and Bideford Town Band as they bring rousing tunes, Abide with me, Land of hope and glory and many more.
