As You Like It
Wed 10 – Fri 12 AugStudio Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’ brings a modern dimension to this ever popular celebration and satirical reflection of the Pastoral tradition. There’s romance a plenty, of course and much confusion and strife arising from a resourceful cross-dressed heroine. But there’s also urban Court intrigue and violence set against rural simplicity. Comedy that by turns is lyrical and witty, bawdy and slapstick. Emotions range from the moody and melancholic to the joyous and ecstatic. It matters not that the plots are implausible and the action absurd, ‘As You Like It’ is lively, sexy and full of fun, but also serious and profound about the things that truly matter.
